We’ve had a busy few summer months here at Flaherty’s Irish Bar Barcelona, but we’ve definitely missed the buzz of having football fans in supporting their local teams. If you’re looking for somewhere to watch Premiership football in Barcelona, there really is no better place!
Last season brought many surprises – the biggest being Leicester City winning the league after narrowly avoiding relegation the year before. We wonder what will happen this year? Who will go down? Who will stay up? And can Leicester City hold onto their Premiership crown?
Teams and Fixtures
Norwich City, Aston Villa and Newcastle United sadly went down to the Championship last season, with Hull City, Middlesbrough and Burnley being promoted. In terms of the Premiership teams, there have been plenty of pre-season signings and rumours. As this article is being written, Pep Guardiola is attempting to sign both Leroy Sane and John Stones in a swoop costing a staggering 92 million pounds! All of the up to date sports news regarding the Premiership teams can be found here.
The first game kicks off on 13th August, at 12.30pm, with reigning champs Leicester City taking on recently promoted Hull City. The opening weekend sees a lot of other matches take place, and fixtures of all games this season can be found here.
Many experts are backing Manchester City, under the management of Pep Guardiola, to win the league and Arsenal have also had positive comments. Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool both have strong chances at ending in the top four too.
There has been much discussion about Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United line-up, and many are wondering whether Chelsea will rise up from the ashes of their worst season in a decade. The majority of pundits think Leicester City will find it difficult to stay on top this season, but as we all know, the Premiership is very unpredictable!
