Christmas in Barcelona

Christmas in Barcelona

It’s the holiday season once again, and as you all know “tis the season to be naughty, fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la”! At Flaherty’s Irish Bar Barcelona we’ve got great things in store for you to get into the celebratory mood. Christmas is a time of joy, celebration and a good amount of drinking! However from this week on everyone will be up to their ears in preparations, we know how stressful this can be, so why not pop in after your shopping for a pint and some good old banter to take your mind off it all?

The only drawback most people encounter at Christmas is all the preparing, cooking and then all the cleaning after the whole event. So this year why not treat yourself? Why don’t you skip all the shopping, preparing, cooking and cleaning and leave it up to us? From Flaherty’s Irish Bar Barcelona we would like to invite you to our special Christmas lunch, packed full of all things good.

Our traditional Christmas menu comes with an appetizer, three scrumptious starters to choose from and a traditional mouth-watering turkey, we also provide a yum vegetarian alternative and a beverage of your choice. And you couldn’t finish any other way than with Christmas pudding, served with brandy butter and fresh cream.

Now if you aren’t tempted to call and book now there’s more, Christmas is not only about eating and drinking but about having fun, enjoying yourself and playing games which is why we’ve got lots of fun in store for you! An all-time Flaherty’s favourite Bingo, with great prizes, board games, as well as darts and pool, we can assure you’ll have the best time ever! Games, laughter, Christmas joy, delicious food and great craic, what more could you ask for?

We will also be serving our Christmas meal throughout all December for those of you who would like to celebrate Christmas with friends before going home on the 25th. Call now on 933 020 225 to book!

We know you guys love facts as much as us so we’ve got some great Christmas facts for you! The tradition of kissing under mistletoe comes from England. The original custom was that a berry was picked from the sprig of mistletoe before the person could be kissed and when all the berries had gone, there could be no more kissing! Things have changed since then, now we can have as many kisses as we like, luckily for us!

We all love our Christmas songs and getting our grove on to them, but have you ever wondered what the best-selling song is? White Christmas! And what about covers? Every year we hear new versions of old Christmas tunes sung by many different artists. Silent Night is the most recorded Christmas song in history with over 733 different versions copyrighted since 1978.

How did we end up hanging stockings around the house for Santa to leave us pressies? It’s a Dutch tradition, they would leave shoes full of food for St. Nicolas’ donkeys and St. Nicolas would then leave small gifts in return.

We couldn’t talk about Christmas facts without checking out the Guinness Book of Records, here are our favourite three: The world’s biggest snowman was built in 2008 and was a whopping 37.21 metres tall (122ft)! Who doesn’t love crackers? Normally filled with fun yet useless items! Could you imagine a cracker that had footballs and toys in it? Not miniature ones but real size ones! We’re talking about a giant cracker, which was 63.1 metres (207ft) long and 4 metres (13ft) in diameter! Now what would we do without Christmas trees? They’re probably one of the most important parts of Christmas as all the family joins in on their decoration. Last year Honduras created the largest human Christmas tree, consisting of 2,954 people. The tree was formed with people in yellow to form a star, red for baubles and green for the branches, and it looked great!

We’re sure that after all this talk you’re probably ready for some good old celebration, so pop into Flaherty’s Irish Bar Barcelona and we can guarantee you’ll feel the holiday vibe!
